Remove the filter from the bike.  Try not to booger up the outside of your filter, after all you paid good money for it. Plug the threaded hole so that debris will not get into the inside of the filter element.

Use a small screwdriver to gently pry up the top end of the metal spirol lok that holds the filter in the case.

Use caution not to damage the rubber quad-ring that seals the top of the filter to the engine (it can be removed if you like.

Pull the spirol lok up and toward the center of the filter in a circular motion and work the spirol lok out of its slot. you should now be able to remove the filter element from the case.
